Lavender Essential Oil Uses and Benefits (Did You Know?)

Lavender Oil an Essential Oil for Skin Care

What is Lavender anyway?

Lavender is an aromatic evergreen shrub of the mint family, with narrow leaves and bluish-purple flowers. Who knew that hundreds of years ago humans would start using it as way to rest our minds and get better sleep. Lavender has been known for its gentle and soothing fragrance since ancient times. Evidently, the Greeks and Romans would use it in the public baths because it made them feel so refreshed and alive.

But do know all of the ways we can use this wonderful plant today?

Uses of Lavender Oil To Try For Yourself:

  1. Deodorizing Pet Stains
Cat or dog stains still smell even after the stain is gone. By mixing of a handful of baking soda and a few drops of lavender oil, then sprinkle the mixture onto the smelly spot, let it sit for a half hour or so, then vacuum it up! VOILA! no more stinky stains.
  2. Add Scent To Dryer Cloths
Place a few drops on a cloth and toss it in the dryer with your just-washed clothes. The lavender oil on the cloth will naturally deodorize and leave behind a fresh scent!
  3. Helping You Sleep
Place a drop or two of lavender oil on pillows to lull restless children (and adults!) into a restful sleep.
  4. Heal Insect Bites
Put a drop of lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite to stop itching and reduce swelling.
  5. Cold & Flu Steam Treatments
Add 4-6 drops of lavender oil to a bowl or jar of hot water. Place a towel over your head, and inhale the vapor deeply for several minutes. This process helps to clear out congestion and open up your airways. Get more details at the link below.
  6. Migraine Headache Relief
Rub a drop of lavender oil on your temples and cranial sacral (neck area) to help alleviate a headache.
  7. A Natural Deodorant (stop smelly pits)
Rub a couple drops of lavender essential oil over your armpit area to act as a deodorant.NEWS: We now have our own Organic Deodorant that you can buy that is unscented, mixes great with Lavender oils, and completely chemical free! Try it out 🙂
  8. Sunburn Relief
